1. St PAUL'S CATHEDRAL - CITY WALK - TOWER OF LONDON This tour includes the two most historic buildings in the City of London - St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London. Beginning with a tour of St. Paul's Cathedral (see Highlights Tours) we will stop for refreshments in the Crypt Café before embarking on a walking tour through the most historic part of London. The cathedral we see today was the work of Sir Christopher Wren, a man responsible for the rebuilding of so much of the City after the devastating Great Fire of 1666. Our walk will include many of the City Churches designed by Wren and which eloquently demonstrate the infinite variety of this architect of genius. In the heart of the city you will see the bustling junction which contains the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange and the Mansion House, the official home of the Lord Mayor of London. You will pass The Monument which commemorates the Fire and is the largest fee-standing column in the world. Finally down to the river where you will hear of the trading history of the City and see a part of Britain's naval history: HMS Belfast. Beside our next stop is Tower Bridge, one of the most famous bridges in the world and one of the icons of London. Finally our second highlights tour will be of the Tower of London (see Highlights Tours). We strongly recommend this as a morning tour which allows you time to explore the many exhibitions of the Tower and to do full justice to this truly remarkable building.
